Book Description

He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she’s going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world–and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

I adore each and every book Elle Kennedy comes out with. Every time I pick up one of her books I’m always surprised that I love it even more than the book before. She continuously gives us fantastic characters in seamless stories and yet tops herself each and every time. Continue reading

Book Description

Her sisters have found wedded bliss with their wealthy, wonderful dream men, but not Julietta Conte. She’s stayed on terra firma as top executive of the family’s corporation, La Dolce Famiglia bakery. Work is her passion, and her trendy Milan apartment her sanctuary . . . until Sawyer Wells, a masculine masterpiece in a suit, lures her out of hiding with an irresistible offer: an exclusive partnership with his international chain of boutique hotels.

Julietta’s been burned before—and trusting her brotherin- law’s friend, whose powerful gaze alone has her rethinking the best use of a conference room, is the riskiest proposition. But with a once-in-a-career chance to take the bakery global, will she mix stone-cold business with red-hot seduction?

Okay, so I just spent my whole week reading Jennifer Probst’s Marriage to a Billionaire series and fell completely in love. I happened to read her Searching for series first and really wished I had read the Billionaire series beforehand. I would have loved to catch the characters later in their lives and actually recognize who they were! But alas, I didn’t and it doesn’t matter because I can completely see myself rereading each series again (in order this time!). Continue reading

Wino Wednesday – Ancient Roots Red Blend

TheReturn_EditWino Wednesday is back! Today I’m pairing Ancient Roots Red Blend with Jennifer L. Armentrout’s wonderful Titan novel, The Return.

This California red blend features strong flavors of dark cherry and vanilla with a nice chocolately aroma. With a $7.99 price tag, Ancient Roots Red Blend is what I like to call a very yummy “everyday wine.” Not too fancy, not too blah, just the right amount of kick to it for girls’ night in!

I’ve been scouring the wine section in every store I found myself, in order to find the perfect pair for Armentrout’s The Return, the first book in the Titan series which is a spin-off of her Covenant series. I thought Seth’s reappearance in the world of paranormal new adult romance deserved a wine for celebration. Since this book features Greek gods, I thought Ancient Roots would be a fitting wine because Seth himself has ancient roots. And he’s hot. Like super hot. If you don’t believe me, then see what leading lady Josie has to say about it…

“What are you?” she asked, her nose scrunching as she spoke. “Other than a heart-stopping hot guy with obvious boundary issues and problems with anger management?”

I blinked at her. She thought I was a heart-stopping hot guy? Well, of course she did.

The Return, Jennifer L. Armentrout, p. 23

So in celebration of Seth’s return, grab yourself a bottle of Ancient Roots Red Blend and a copy of The Return. You will be in Greek god bliss before you know it!

Happy reading and happy drinking, my friends! ❤

See below for a full review of The Return and how you can get yourself a bottle of Ancient Roots Red Blend.

Hottness rating caveat: No sex, but descriptive words definitely used!

Book Description

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Yay! Seth is back! In preparation for The Return, I reread the entire Covenant Series. I’m really happy that I did because a handful of the main characters show up in The Return and Seth’s behavior is a direct result of what happened in that series. Technically, I guess you could read this book without reading that series. There is a point in the book where the events that took place are recapped, but it barely skimmed the surface of what Seth thought and felt. It was more just a play-by-play from an outsider. So I would suggest reading the Covenant series before delving into this book. You will appreciate it so much more!

Book Description

Luke Garrison is a hometown hero, a member of the National Guard ready to deploy again. Strong, sweet, and sexy, he doesn’t have a girlfriend and doesn’t want one. When the wildly beautiful Harper stumbles into his life, though, he realizes that she’s the perfect decoy. A fake girlfriend to keep his family off his back until he’s out on another mission.

So what if a single bite of her lip sends his mind to wicked places? He can control himself. Can’t he?

Harper was on her way to starting a new life… again. But something about Luke makes her want to settle down in this small town and make Luke’s house a home. When his arms wrap around her like steel, she finally knows what it’s like to feel safe. Protected.

One night of sleeping in the same bed turns into something much, much more… and soon Luke can’t keep his mind off Harper’s wide gray eyes, or his hands off of her luscious curves. He never thought he’d feel this way about a woman again. But he knows that he can’t tell her the truth about his dark past, and she can’t reveal to him what she’s running from.

Anyway, this isn’t a real relationship. It’s only for a month. Only pretend. Until it isn’t…

Pretend You’re Mine is the first book I’ve ever read by Lucy Score. I found it on Kindle Unlimited with fairly high ratings, so I figured what the hell! Thank God I grabbed this book! I loved it! I didn’t even realize I was sucked into it until it was 3am and I was still reading. Score has a way of creating complex characters and putting them in the perfect situations that round their personalities out flawlessly. The writing was perfectly paced and the banter was fun to read and had me laughing out loud. Continue reading

Happy Hallo-Wine!

Happy Hallo-wine, my book and wine lovers! I decided for this dark holiday that I would re-read a spooktacular book to fit the season. I couldn’t help myself so I grabbed J.R. Ward’s Dark Lover, the first book in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series (there are a TON of books in this series and I’m totally sucked in and have to read them all again!). And of course Vampire Cabernet Sauvignon makes the perfect pairing! This wine is absolutely delicious with blackberry and dark cherry aromas. The oakiness is spot on and pairs well with…all the Halloween candy I may or may not be eating. 😉

With a book in one hand, a glass of wine in the other, and maybe a bowl of candy that didn’t make it to the trick-or-treaters next to me, I am in vampire bliss!

Happy reading, drinking, and candy eating, my loves!

Book Review – Beautifully Brutal

Story (3 out of 5)                               Hottness (5 out of 5)

christmasstar5christmasstar5 christmasstar5                                          red-star-hired-star-hired-star-hired-star-hired-star-hi

Book Description

Sometimes love isn’t beautiful…
Sometimes the only way to describe it is beautifully brutal.

If you think you know him… You’re wrong.
If you think you know his family… Wrong again.
If you think you know his story… You don’t.

If you did, you’d likely wonder how the hell a man like Maximillian Adorite managed to make it to this point in his life. At twenty-nine, he’s experienced more than most people could only ever imagine, all thanks to his family. Organized crime they call it. Mafia.

No matter how they spin it, it comes down to one thing. Max gets what he wants. Except for the one thing he wants most.

Her name is Courtney Kogan.

And now that he’s had a taste of her, Max knows he’ll never be able to let her go.

The Southern Boy Mafia series is a spinoff from the Sniper 1 Security series. It has been set up to be read without reading Sniper 1 Security, however, the characters will frequently cross over.

I’ve read a lot of Nicole Edwards’ books and this is the first one I remember reading where she has consistent flashbacks. I’m a very linear reader so going back and forth really interrupts my concentration making it a lot easier to put the book down and walk away. Once I got used to the rhythm of alternating POVs and flashbacks, I got sucked into the world of the Southern Boy Mafia. Continue reading

Book Review – Beneath These Chains

Story (5 out of 5)                               Hottness (4 out of 5)

christmasstar5christmasstar5 christmasstar5christmasstar5christmasstar5                        red-star-hired-star-hired-star-hired-star-hi

Book Description

Beneath These Chains is the third book in the Beneath Series, but can be enjoyed as a full-length, standalone romance.

I was raised on the streets, so I know things are rarely as simple as they appear—especially this rich girl showing up at my pawnshop demanding a job.

She’s the most tempting thing I’ve ever seen, and I’ll be damned if I can make her leave.

Shit just got complicated … but when it comes to her, I want complicated.

We’re both fighting our own demons, and our only chance at a future is to let go of the past.

But will we be strong enough to break free from beneath these chains?

This story was filled with mystery, action, sexual tension, and tender love. I absolutely could not put this book down until I read the very last word of the very last page. Meghan March has a way of writing that makes me forget that I’m reading a book because I can see everything happening right in front of my eyes. Her characters are raw, honest, and unapologetic. Book Review – Wrong Number, Right Guy

Book Description

When a mysterious text message summons May Wexler to a biker bar in downtown New Orleans, she knows something is very wrong. Her sister has sent out an SOS, but when May gets there, she’s nowhere to be found and May is the one in trouble—she’s wearing pink espadrilles, she’s got a Chihuahua in her purse, and she’s in the middle of a shootout.

After tall, muscular Ozzie comes to her rescue, May has no choice but to follow him to safety. At the headquarters of his private security firm, the Bourbon Street Boys, she finds a refuge for the night—and the offer of a job. But it’s not long before a gun-toting stalker isn’t the only complication in May’s life: the more time she spends with Ozzie, the less she can deny that they’ve got some serious chemistry. A wrong number got her into this mess…Will it also get her the right guy?

This is the first book I have read by Elle Casey. The book description totally sold me on reading this story. I had to know what happened to the girl from the right side of town ending up on the wrong side of the town with her chihuahua in her purse during a shoot out. Now that’s a crazy premise for a story! Book Description

For the past nine years, I’ve kept my heart as far away from my dick as possible.
Those two can’t be anywhere near each other. They don’t play nice, and one of them undoubtedly winds up getting hurt.

Not my dick. My dick is good.

The women I take home know exactly what they’re getting from me—sex. Nothing more. At least, that’s what’s supposed to happen. The sweet brunette from Kentucky I set my sights on tonight shouldn’t have been any different. I had her right where I wanted her. Where I needed her. But when my past comes walking into McGill’s pub, the woman in my arms decides to take things to a whole new level, putting me into a situation I never saw coming.

My heart is about to get fucked. My dick can sit this one out.

J. Daniels, I love you! She has yet again given us an amazing story with a deliciously sexy main man and an unforgettable leading lady! Continue reading

Book Review – Searching for Always

Story (4 out of 5)                               Hottness (4 out of 5)

christmasstar5christmasstar5 christmasstar5christmasstar5                              red-star-hired-star-hired-star-hired-star-hi

Book Description

She’s an expert in helping others de-stress, but Arilyn Meadows is running on fumes. Along with her job counseling singles seeking soul mates at the Kinnections agency in Verily, New York, she’s a yoga teacher, animal shelter volunteer, anger management therapist, and helping hand to her beloved grandfather. No time to find Mr. Right—but after discovering her yogi boyfriend in a compromising asana, Arilyn would rather dog-sit for her honeymooning friend Kate than risk her heart on another downward dog. And when police officer Stone Petty—radiating masculinity and bad-boy attitude—is sent to her for mandatory lessons in cooling off when the job gets too hot, Arilyn vows to ignore his seductive glances and sexy grin. But there’s no halting their sizzling flirtation—a red-hot, high-speed chase that’s breaking all the limits.

I think out of all of the Searching For series’ leading ladies, I most anticipated Arilyn’s story. After seeing her in the first three books, I was dying to know the mysterious yoga hippy’s story. I didn’t see her falling for an alpha cop, but I could not be happier about it! Continue reading
